Hundred Acre Wine Group Wine Offer

From Jayson Woodbridge of Hundred Acre, we are pleased to offer both the Summer Dreams wines of the Sonoma Coast and the Fortunate Son wines of Napa Valley. If you attended the most recent All Vintner Pour, you may have had the chance to taste these for yourself—they were among the most talked-about wines of the day, drawing attention for both their pedigree and their presence in the glass.

Also available for purchase from our cellar collection: we have 6 bottles each of the 2017 and 2018 Hundred Acre Ark Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, offered individually or as three-packs in their original wood cases. These wines are exceptionally limited in quantity, and as with all things Hundred Acre, they will sell out quickly.

The Summer Dreams Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the result of a joint project between Jayson Woodbridge and winemaker Ashley Holland—who refined her craft working alongside Sonoma luminaries like Bob Cabral, Bill Price, and Ryan Pritchard.

Fueled by a shared passion for the nuanced beauty of the Sonoma Coast, Jayson and Ashley explored over one hundred vineyard sites before selecting the few that could capture their vision. The result is a set of wines that are precise, expressive, and unmistakably coastal in character.

The 2023 Summer Dreams, The Sun Also Rises Chardonnay is a blend of fruit from the iconic Heintz Vineyard and The Summer Dreams Estate Vineyard. Combining Clone 4 and Dijon Clone selections, this Chardonnay delivers both lift and power, walking that magical tightrope between crispness and lush fruit. It manages to maintain a classic California Chardonnay profile while still offering a vivid sense of place.

The 2022 Summer Dreams, Stargazing Pinot Noir is something of an anomaly—in the best possible way. As I tasted it, I couldn’t help but appreciate the irony of a wine named for looking up at the stars, yet born from countless hours spent with eyes fixed firmly on the ground.

It’s the story of digging deep for the right Goldridge soils and letting that terroir speak clearly through Pinot Noir. 100% destemmed and aged in 100% new French oak, the wine somehow holds its balance. The fruit carries the oak beautifully—a reminder of the old adage: “There’s no such thing as over-oaked wine, just under-wined barrels.”.

Next in the lineup is the 2021 Fortunate Son, The Dreamer Cabernet Sauvignon—a bold and expressive Napa Valley wine that continues to turn heads for its richness, balance, and style.

As my friend Jonathan Cristaldi of Decanter Magazine so aptly put it, “a meal unto itself, but better paired with roasted meats drizzled in rich plum sauce.” As plush as the velveteen label that wraps the bottle, it’s unapologetically rich—opulent, even—yet never one-dimensional. So many Napa Cabs fall into the gravity well of their own dark fruit, but The Dreamer doesn’t get stuck in its own intensity. Instead, it rises above with grace, composure, and the kind of layered complexity that invites another glass.

Now, it would be pretty cool if I could give you my own tasting notes on the 2017 and 2018 Hundred Acre Ark—but the truth is, I haven’t tasted them. Very few people have. There’s just not a lot of these wines going around. They’re not poured at trade tastings, and even my friends Rollie and Dana—my people on the inside at Hundred Acre—don’t get samples.

For what it’s worth, here’s what The Wine Advocate had to say:

2017 Hundred Acre Ark Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon – 98 Points
Deep garnet-black colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard unfurls sensuously from the glass with provocative scents of baked black cherries, plum preserves and crème de cassis, with emerging suggestions of fragrant earth, black truffles, Chinese five spice and dusty soil. Full-bodied, rich and oh-so-spicy on the palate, it has a rock-solid backbone of grainy tannins and lively acidity supporting the opulent fruit, finishing very long and exotic. This is a surprisingly decadent and powerful expression of 2017!

From Jeb Dunnuck:

2018 Hundred Acre Ark Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon – 99 Points
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard comes from a site just outside of St. Helena and vines planted in 2002. Offering tons of minerality as well as notions of smoky dark fruits, tobacco, new leather, and truffly earth, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish. As with all the 2018s here, it's flawlessly balanced and a heavenly, singular Cabernet Sauvignon.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of the Mayacama wine program. We’re incredibly excited to offer these exceptional wines to our Members, and I encourage you to reach out with any questions or requests—I’m always happy to chat wine.

Cheers!
