Château Angelus & Mouton Rothschild
Wine Offer

A sincere thank you to those who joined us for the recent tastings of Château Angelus and Château Mouton Rothschild. These were truly special evenings, filled with thoughtful discussion, great company, and a few unexpected standouts.

Let’s start with the obvious. Yes, the 2009 Angelus was brilliant—we all expected it to be. It’s one of the benchmark vintages of the modern Bordeaux era. But the real surprise? The 2011 Angelus. That was the sleeper hit for me—my “pop-now, baby” pick. A few bottles will be available, though quantities are extremely limited. As always, these wines are sourced directly from the Château through our friends at Duclot, offering pristine provenance and perfect cellaring conditions.

The Mouton tasting had its share of surprises too. The 2009 showed beautifully, but the 2005 Mouton Rothschild seemed to take the top spot by popular vote. For those seeking something extraordinary at a more accessible price point, I’d recommend the 2010 Château d’Armailhac at $135. Dewey Markham, Export Manager for the estate and our guest for the evening, believes it may be the finest d’Armailhac they’ve ever produced. Camille tells me there are only 24 bottles in the Duclot U.S. warehouse, with the possibility of more later this year—pending tariffs, of course.

A selection of these wines is now available to purchase via the link below. Due to limited availability, we may not be able to fulfill all requests. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

And now, a brief word from Bordeaux…

From its earliest vintages, Château Angelus has carried the image of a bell on its label—a tribute to its namesake devotion. Over time, this bell has become the estate’s enduring symbol, evolving in design but never in meaning. Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion moves on, but style remains.” The same can be said of Angelus: a timeless estate with deep roots in tradition, a bold embrace of modernity, and a commitment to excellence that continues to define its identity.

Château Mouton Rothschild, on the other hand, brings both artistry and ambition to the table. Known for its powerful, age-worthy wines and its tradition of commissioning original label artwork from celebrated artists each year, Mouton blends innovation with heritage. The estate’s motto, “Mouton ne change”—Mouton never changes— reminds us that while the expression may evolve, the soul of Mouton remains unchanged, always reaching for greatness.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of the Mayacama wine program. We’re excited to offer these exceptional bottles to our Members, and I encourage you to reach out with any questions or requests. I’m always happy to chat wine.

Cheers!

Jared Hooper, Wine Director
