We’re delighted to share exciting news from just up the road in downtown Healdsburg: True West Film Center will open this fall at the new James Redford Campus—a thoughtfully designed hub for film, education, and community.
More than five years in the making, the campus will debut a brand-new, three-screen cinema alongside media labs, classrooms, and welcoming community spaces. It’s a place not only to watch great films, but to make them, discuss them, and connect through them—building on True West’s longstanding service to youth, educators, and artists in Sonoma County.
Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of individuals, families, businesses, foundations, and local government, more than $4.2 million has already been raised to bring this visionary project to life. The finish line is in sight, and the continued support of our community will help carry this project across it—ensuring True West’s promise of cinema, storytelling, and connection is realized for generations to come.
This effort has brought together an impressive community of leaders and supporters, including Founder & Executive Director Kathryn Phillip, former Sundance Film Festival Director John Cooper, and industry veterans such as Mayacama Member Jeff Schlesinger (former President, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television), Glenn Williamson (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), and Jeff & Laurie Ubben (producers of the four-time Emmy-nominated The Grab and owners of Little Saint).
Before the doors officially open, True West is hosting two final hard-hat tours to offer a first look at the cinemas and creative spaces, introduce members of the team, and share the vision for programming this fall and beyond. To attend one of the final public tours, please RSVP to [email protected].
And here at Mayacama, Members will have the chance to experience True West firsthand. On Friday, October 3, following our First Friday Pour, we’ll host a special evening featuring an introduction to True West and a screening of the film F1. This unique Member gathering offers the opportunity to learn more about the vision behind the Film Center while enjoying a cinematic experience together at the Club.
We look forward to welcoming this new cultural destination to our community and enjoying an unforgettable evening of wine, film, and community! |
