Many of you have noticed that the Kids' Room has been transformed into what we now call the "Play Room" as it is a fun place for Members of all ages! The interior walls have been removed for an open and spacious feel! We've replaced the carpet and added a ping-pong table and a full-size shuffle board. The Play Room will continue to be used for Kids' Nights and as a fun space for many of the upcoming summer kids' camps! Very soon we will be adding artwork and some color accents to the room. Come down and have a look!

As a friendly reminder to parents, Kids' Nights are scheduled in the Play Room to match Club events that are planned for grownups. Please register your children for these fun and educational events in advance. On all occasions we ask parents to help their young people to remember the importance of respect and good manners for people and property. Parents are responsible for their children's behavior as well as proper dress and grooming. Children running through the Clubhouse, jumping on furniture, or disturbing fellow Members with loud noises and screaming is inappropriate social behavior and will not be tolerated. Please be assured that we want all Members to have fun, while at the same time remembering this is a gathering place for all ages. When dining at the Club you will notice that unless it is requested, our servers are not automatically bringing water to the table. In case you aren't aware, this is due to recent regulations passed by the California State Water Resources Control Board. Your understanding in helping to conserve water and support our local farmers in this agricultural area, is very much appreciated.

bunker renovation

The bunkers on holes 17 and 18 are nearly complete! Every time we near completion of a set of bunkers we get excited to see the finished result.

One of the most important components of the bunker renovation is the drainage system we are installing under the sand. It's called Better Billy Bunker and it was developed by Billy Fuller a former superintendent of Augusta National. The purpose behind the development of the Billy Bunker method was to eliminate sand contamination from native soils. You only have to compare our old bunkers with the new ones to see what sand contamination does over time. The Billy Bunker method is a two inch gravel layer spread above established drain lines and over the entire floor of the bunker. The gravel is then sprayed with a polymer developed specifically for this use that permanently binds the gravel but allows water to easily flow through. Once the sand is installed and we get rain, the water will move easily through the sand, through the treated gravel layer and out of the bunker. Thus, never having standing water in the bunkers and virtually eliminating contamination due to wash outs. We expect significant labor savings of up 80% when restoring the bunkers to playability after significant rain events.

The clinics will cover all aspects of the game including putting, short game techniques, full swing, club fitting and equipment evaluation, golf etiquette, rules of golf, physical fitness, and general golf customs. Clinics are open to players of all levels, and we encourage all women players at Mayacama to attend these clinics. Regardless of your skill level, we guarantee that your participation in these clinics will enhance your skill level and improve your game.

In the past 10 years, there has been a rose renaissance. Since the timely death of sweet white Zinfandel, rose has become a serious wine. A great rose should be dry, aromatic, and represent the grape from which it is made. With food, rose is perhaps one of the most versatile varietal and as a sipping wine, it is delightful and refreshing.

Each year, we introduce our roses for the season at the first Friday in May. Our "Pinko de Mayo" tasting showcases the many varietals from which our roses are produced. Our family had a wonderful time visiting One Steamboat Place during our kids "ski week" break in February. This was our first experience with trading for a week at another Timbers property and it reaffirmed the reasons why we decided to become members last year. From the concierge, Nikki, who made sure everything was planned for prior to our arrival to the shuttle driver who picked us up at the Steamboat airport, the staff were truly wonderful and made us feel welcome. We stayed in a beautiful four bedroom four bath residence that comfortably accommodated our family of 4 along with 5 other family members and friends. It included an amazing kitchen which allowed us to relax and cook dinners in the residence for those nights we didn't feel like going out to eat. Of course we also had the option to order delivery from the terrific onsite restaurant Truffle Pig, which we took advantage of.

The location couldn't be any better as the gondola to the slopes was right outside the door! Nikki had arranged for our lift tickets and the kids' ski lessons so we could focus on enjoying our vacation from the moment we arrived at the resort. The onsite ski valet totally spoiled us for future ski vacations as I don't think we could do without this great service. It was just our kids second time ever on skis but their ski instructor was excellent and by the end of the lesson, our daughter joined my wife and I on a long green slope and made it all the way down without falling! Each day after skiing on the slopes or just hanging out at the resort, we made sure to attend the après skigathering in the beautiful members lounge to enjoy drinks and small bites. We also took advantage of the beautiful spa to help recover from a long day on the slopes.

One Steamboat Place truly exceeded our expectations in every way. We will definitely look for opportunities to use our reciprocity benefits to experience other great Timbers properties in the future.
