Summer has finally arrived and Mayacama is your place to host family and friends! We kick off the month of June with a mixer in San Francisco on Friday, June 2nd at the Millennium Tower, Penthouse Suite. Next week, we are hosting our Annual Schulz Celebrity Golf Classic and hope to raise another $1 million for local children's charities. There is a very special Golf Camp for Kids this year June 14th - 16th. This is the famous "Drive, Chip and Putt" camp and one the kids shouldn't miss. And finally, our highly anticipated Member-Member tournament arrives on June 23rd and 24th. Registration for all of these events can be found below.

Thank you to all who attended the All Vintner Pour weekend. It will arguably go down as the best party ever at Mayacama! And what a terrific ending to our first "major" of the year over Memorial Day Weekend. Congratulations to our Match Play winners Tina Feeney, Brian Flahavan, & Chris Qvale! Each Final Match had quite the entourage following and made for a festive ending to a great Championship. Thank you to all who played! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Junior Golf Camp - Drive, Chip & Putt
June 14 -16, 2017

This Golf Camp is designed to supplement, not replace our popular Junior Golf Boot Camp (July 26-28). The June version of the Junior Golf Camp will be based on the skills specifically needed for the drive, chip & putt competition seen on TV the Sunday before the Masters. Registration will be limited to the first 30 Juniors (ages 5 – 15) who enter.

Join us for this fun, casual golf event which is open to Social Members and guests too. Our Sip ‘N Swing event begins with a 4:00 pm shotgun start, followed by a dinner buffet on the Dining Room Terrace. The format for this event is a six-person, 9-hole scramble. Make your own team of six or sign up individually and we will pair you with a group. Participants will enjoy a specialty cocktail and sip summer wines on some of the holes. Even if you aren't able to play in the Sip 'N Swing, make plans to meet up with the players and enjoy a fun dinner with your fellow members.

Mayacama match play recap

The 2017 Mayacama Cup Match Play Championship was conducted over Memorial Day Weekend under perfect weather conditions.  The golf course was in fantastic shape and provided for a tough test for the competitors. 

In the Women’s Division, there were three matches played and the final match featured Peggy Matsuda and Tina Feeney.  Peggy got off to a hot start by winning the first three holes, however Tina was resilient and forced the match to come down to the 18th hole where she defeated Peggy Matsuda with a score of 1 Up. 

The Mayacama Flight was contested over 27 matches and this year proved no different, in that it truly is a 5-day grind.  The final match paired the 2015 and defending champion Paul Puccioni versus Brian Flahavan.  Brian was off to an early lead being one up through five holes, but then Paul Puccioni won the next three holes to take a two up lead.  Brian then proceeded to win six out of the next eight holes to close out Paul on hole #16, 4 and 2.   Over the five matches that Brian won, he never had an opponent take him past hole 16. 

In the Championship Flight which is played at scratch from the back tees over 36 holes, we had four matches played.  The final match consisted of 5-time champion Paul Balatti and the 2003 Mayacama Flight Champion Chris Qvale.  Chris got up to a quick 4 Up lead after nine holes and proceeded to build upon his lead after 18 holes where he was 6 Up.  Chris won six of the first seven holes, when they continued the match after lunch to win 12 and 11 over Paul to become the 2017 Mayacama Cup Championship Flight Champion.  Chris becomes the first member to win the Mayacama Cup in the Championship Flight and the Mayacama Flight.

We are thrilled to welcome our country’s best Junior Golfers to Mayacama for the 2017 Wyndham Cup on July 4-7, 2017. This event features the Nation’s top 40 Junior Golfers (20 Boys and 20 Girls) in a Ryder Cup style East vs. West Match Play Tournament! The event kicks off on July 4th with a Junior-Am event. This is your opportunity to play with one of these Junior Golfers as your partner in a 2-person “shamble” format!

To say that the Wyndham Cup field has had some of the best junior golfers as participants is an understatement. Past participants in the Wyndham Cup include Jordan Speith, Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar, Brittany Lincicome, Paula Creamer, Kristie Kerr, and Lexi Thompson just to name a few. And now tomorrow’s stars will be coming to Mayacama Golf Club. Take a look at the entry form and sign up today … only 30 spots are available. Mayacama Husband & Wife Club Championships
Sunday, July 16

This Championship utilizes the “Pinehurst” format to identify the best Husband and Wife “Team” in the Club. The format requires both players to truly play as a “team” rather than relying on the skills of the better player. Both players tee off, they then hit each other’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, the players select the ball with which they wish to complete the hole and play that ball alternating shots until the ball is holed. Both the Champions and the Mayacama Flight (played with Course Handicap) Champions will be recognized with trophies.

Ty Visscher, proprietor of Bennett Valley Jewelers in Santa Rosa, has designed this beautiful buckle exclusively for Mayacama Members. A Mayacama Member himself, Ty has personally created several designs to come up with these beautiful pieces. Depending on your price range, the buckles can be produced in a variety of metals. The unique and now widely recognized Mayacama Logo, positioned in the center of the buckle can be featured in Bronze, Sterling Silver or 18-Karat Gold...11 grams of gold! And several finishes are available for the outer/main portion of the buckle including Smooth, Hammered or “Grape Vine” texture. Each buckle will be individually hand-stamped and numbered.

All Vintner Pour recap

Our 2017 Vintner Cup and All Vintner Pour was a tremendous success.  Attendance hit an all-time high with over 400 members, guests and vintners enjoying fabulous wines, great food and stellar entertainment. All of which occurred on a perfect 70 degree day. With the new greens, tees and sand traps, the return of the all Vintner Tournament was back!

I would like to thank all of our members and their guests who attended this year’s festivities and send out a special thank you to the tremendous efforts by the Mayacama team.
