We wanted to take a moment to provide a late-summer update on current golf course conditions as we transition into fall.
The greens are playing fantastic right now, with speeds consistently measuring 11.5–12 feet on the stimpmeter. Their health has been excellent all season, with strong density, smooth surfaces, and vibrant color—exactly what we aim for at this time of year. A great deal of effort goes into maintaining this consistency, and our Poa control program has been an important part of that success. While no application is ever 100% effective, we’ve seen excellent results, with Poa plants losing color, withering, and dying. Through diligence and continued pressure, we are able to keep our playing surfaces clean and true.
As good as the greens and surrounds have been, we did encounter some unexpected disease activity in the fairways and rough this season. This is not something we had previously experienced here, and it caught us off guard. While it did cause some turf loss, the overall impact has been relatively contained. The majority of the affected areas are in the intermediate cut, rough, and a few fairways—primarily on the front nine.
Once we identified the issue, our team responded quickly to get it under control. The areas that Members may notice on the course now are the result of past damage, not active disease. Seeding has already been completed, and in several locations we are seeing strong signs of germination and growth. With the favorable weather we’re experiencing, recovery should come quickly. Within 10–14 days, we expect most of the affected areas to be on the mend and blending back into the course’s overall condition.
This process is a good reminder that course maintenance is always evolving, and unexpected challenges can arise even when conditions are strong. Thanks to quick action and a proactive approach, we’ve kept the disruption minimal, and Members can continue to enjoy high-quality playing surfaces across the property.
We appreciate your patience as the newly seeded areas grow in, and we remain committed to providing the best possible golf experience every day. Enjoy this beautiful fall weather, and we look forward to seeing you out on the course. |
