We wanted to update you on the return to our Golf Customs as we transition back to normal operations.
While Covid forced us to adjust many of our customs so that we could open our Club for play, it was never our intention to lose sight of what Golf is at Mayacama, a “walking” game complimented by a professional Caddie Program. Now that we can operate closer to what is “normal”, we will be making the following adjustments to our Golf Program beginning July 1 to re-emphasize the traditions upon which our Club was founded. We appreciate your support of one of our founding principles of walking with a Caddie whenever you can while playing a round of Golf at Mayacama.
Listed below are some basic reminders about caddies, guests, starting times, and an awareness of basic golf etiquette and care for the course.
Golf Cars
Golf Cars will continue to be available to those over the age of 65 or who are physically unable to walk the golf course. All other Members may utilize a golf car after 2:00 pm (noon during winter hours when conditions permit). Single Rider Golf Car use is not permitted except in those cases where only one player in the group requires a Golf Car.
Golf Cars MUST remain on paths wherever present and should NEVER be within 30 feet of a putting green or teeing area.
Walk & Carry/ Caddies/ Guests
Members may continue to walk and carry their clubs at ANY TIME. However, Members who are bringing guests must utilize caddie services when playing before 1:00 pm.
Caddies
Your support of our Caddie Program has enabled us to sustain our program over the past year, and we thank you for that support. Caddies are always available on advance request, and we continue to ask that you kindly make your Caddie requests when booking your starting time online or by calling the Golf Shop (707-569-2915) or the Caddie Office (707-569-2911). We will have a limited number of Caddies available to accommodate “walk-ons” prior to 1:00 pm, but advance requests are the preferred method for booking a Caddie.
Trolleys
The Club will no longer allow the use of Trolleys beginning July 1 except for Junior Players under the age of 18 years.
Starting Times
Starting times will continue to be necessary for all of us due to increased demand for golf. A reminder for booking advance Starting Time reservations:
- Members may reserve Starting Times up to 7 days in advance.
- No more than three reservations may be made during the 7-day window.
- Members may book one Starting Time per day for purposes of equity.
- Please have your games organized when making your booking. TBA’s should either be filled in with the actual names of the players three days prior to your reservation or released so that other Members may book.
- Groups of less than four players may expect to be paired with other Mayacama Members, either in advance or on the day of play.
- Members MUST advise the Club in advance whenever they need to cancel their starting time.

Pace of Play / Care for the Course
Slow Play is everyone’s problem … and everyone’s responsibility!
Four players walking with Caddies can and should be able to complete an 18-hole round of Golf at Mayacama in 4:30 or less. This is a high standard, but we have proven that this is achievable, even in our Stroke Play Championships where the pressure of competition can slow the process.
With the increase in rounds of golf, it’s more important than ever for every Member to be mindful of their pace of play and set a target to complete each 9-hole round in 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Care for the course is also everyone’s responsibility! Please repair your ball marks on the putting greens. Fix your mark and one or two others and we will experience the conditions that we are accustomed to. And remember … it is THE PLAYER’S RESPONSIBILITY to repair their ball mark!
We appreciate your support in maintaining these Club Customs at Mayacama upon which we were founded.
