Dear Mayacama Member,

As most of you know by now, Mayacama Golf Club is hosting the AJGA’s Wyndham Cup July 4 – 7. This is one of the best Junior Golf Events in the country and we are proud to have these players contest this East vs. West Match Play competition at our Club. The event kicks off with a special “Junior-Am” tournament on Tuesday morning, July 4th. Some have asked why the Club would host such an event on a Holiday … but we say “Why not?” Why not celebrate our Nation’s birthday by creating an opportunity for our Members to play in a one-day tournament with one of the country’s Top 40 Junior Golfers! It is what good Clubs do … just check out the list of Clubs which have hosted the Wyndham Cup in the past, many of them more than once! And also check out some of the names of this year's Wyndham Cup players … names you will certainly recognize! Two players in particular … Cole Hammer who played in the US Open at Chambers Bay at the age of 15, and Lucy Li, who qualified for the US Women’s Open at Pinehurst … at the age of 11!

We ask that you support this event through your participation in the Junior-Am Tournament. There are currently 15 spots left and we would like to fill the them with our Members. The entry is tax deductible through the AJGA’s 501c-3 status. If you are unable to play in the Junior-Am, you can still support the event as a Wyndham Cup Supporter or by purchasing a playing spot for a friend to participate to play in your spot. Below is the Junior Am Entry. Please take a moment to look it over and call us in the Golf Shop if you have any questions. And of course we hope that you (and your own Junior Golfers) will come out and watch the Matches Wednesday – Friday. Here’s the Schedule of Events for the Wyndham Cup:

TUESDAY – JULY 4
Wyndham Cup Junior-Am: 9:00 am Shotgun

WEDNESDAY – JULY 5
7:30 – 9:18 am: Four-Ball Matches (#1 Tee)
1:30 – 2:10 pm: Mixed Foursome Matches (#1 Tee)

THURSDAY – JULY 6
7:30 – 9:00 am: Foursome Matches (#1 Tee)
1:00 – 1:48 pm: Mixed Four-Ball Matches (#1 Tee)

FRIDAY – JULY 7
7:30 – 10:40 am: Single Matches (#1 Tee)

I’ve seen some great golf events over the years, and I can say without question that The Wyndham Cup is by far one of the best! The quality of the play of these Juniors is outstanding, as is their camaraderie and team spirit. We are proud to have these Juniors come to Mayacama to compete in this great event, which for many will be their last as a Junior Golfer as they prepare to move on to play the game at the next level in the NCAA.
