Mayacama Cup Annual Match Play Championships
MAY 25 - 29, 2017
Mayacama Golf Club cordially invites you to participate in the Sixteenth Annual Mayacama Cup Match Play Championships. The Mayacama Cup is one of two "Medal" Championships played at Mayacama Golf Club where the Champions receive a sterling silver Championship Medal and an invitation to the Annual Champions Dinner, held on the eve of the Annual Stroke Play Championships in August.
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
Match Play - 18 Hole Matches (except for Men’s Championship Flight Final, which will be a 36-hole Match played in one day).
CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Open to all Golf Members in good standing of Mayacama Golf Club. Only players who are available to play in all scheduled matches should enter. Players MUST have an established current USGA Handicap Index to compete in the Men’s Mayacama Flight or in the Women’s Mayacama Flight.
MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT
The Men's Championship Flight will be played at scratch. Maximum entries for the Championship Flight will be 16 players. If more than 16 entries are received for the Championship Flight, the 15 entrants with the lowest Handicap Indexes will be selected, along with the current Champion, Mark Mance, if entered. Otherwise, the field will be determined by the 16 entrants with the lowest Handicap Indexes. Players will be seeded based on their current USGA Handicap Index as of May 15, 2017, with the exception of the current Champion, Mark Mance, who if entered, shall be seeded as number 1. All matches in the Championship Flight shall be played from the Back Tee Markers.
MEN'S MAYACAMA FLIGHT
Determines the Men’s Handicap Match Play Champion and is played with full Course Handicap. The maximum Handicap for the Men’s Mayacama Flight is 24 strokes. Maximum entries for the Mayacama Flight will be 32 players and will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Players will be seeded based on a blind draw with the exception of the current Champion, Paul Puccioni, who if entered, shall be seeded as #1. All matches in the Men’s Mayacama Flight shall be played from the Middle Tee Markers.
WOMEN'S MAYACAMA FLIGHT
Determines the Women’s Match Play Champion and is played with full Course Handicap. The maximum Handicap for the Women’s Flight is 36 strokes. Maximum number of entries for the Women’s Flight will be 16 players and will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Players will be seeded based on a blind draw with the exception of the current Champion, Malin Giddings, who if entered, shall be seeded as #1. All matches in the Women’s Flight shall be played from the Forward Tee Markers.
HANDICAP INFORMATION
Other than the Men’s Championship Flight, which shall be played at scratch, all players shall use 100% of their Course Handicap in effect at the time each match is played. The Championship Committee will be using your current USGA Handicap Index as of May 15, 2017.
Maximum Handicap Allowance:
- Men’s Mayacama Flight: 24 Strokes
- Women’s Mayacama Flight: 36 Strokes
PAIRINGS
All entrants will be paired for matches, or assigned first round byes, as soon as the entry deadline of 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2017 has passed. Pairings will be posted in the Golf Shop at 8:00 am on Sunday, May 21, 2017. It is the player’s responsibility to contact the Golf Shop for this information.

LATENESS ON THE TEE
If a player arrives at his/her starting point, ready to play, within five minutes after his/her starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time will be loss of the first hole. After five minutes, the player shall be disqualified. (Rule 6-3a)
GOLF BALLS
Only brands of golf balls on the USGA list of conforming golf balls may be used. This list is available for your review at www.USGA.org.
RULES OF GOLF
Play is governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the United States Golf Association. Questions shall be settled by the Mayacama Golf Club Championship Committee, whose decision shall be final. Knowledge of and adherence to the Rules of Golf are integral parts of sportsmanship. Each contestant should place special emphasis on knowledge of the Rules of Golf, especially those concerning Match Play. (Rule 2)
TIES
A match that ends “all square” shall be played off hole-by-hole until one side wins a hole. The playoff shall start on the hole where the match began, and handicap strokes will be allowed as in the prescribed match.
PRIZES
All Flight Winners will receive their own Championship Cup replica, a Commemorative Championship Plaque, Championship Medal, and have their names engraved on their respective Championship Trophy and Champion’s Board; both of which are on permanent display in the Mayacama Clubhouse. Flight runners-up will receive a "silver salver". All other prizes will be in the form of gift certificates.
ENTRY FEE
The entry fee for this Championship is $130 per Member. Entry fees include all championship awards. Caddie fees are not included.
ENTRY CLOSING
All entries must be received no later than 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
ENTRY (ONLINE REGISTRATION)
All entrants MUST register online, on the Foretees app, or stop in the Golf Shop and complete the entry in writing. Telephone and verbal entries will NOT BE ACCEPTED. Please follow these easy steps to register you and your teammate Member or guest in the tournament:
- Login to www.foretees.com/mayacama and click on the EVENTS tab at the top of the page.
- When using the ForeTees app, select the ForeTees (FT) icon on the toolbar, then tap on GOLF EVENT REGISTRATION.
- Select the Event, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click REGISTER.
- Add another Member or a guest to your registration. Please include your guest's e-mail address.
- Select NA in the drop down menu under TRANS. Apply the appropriate GENDER.
- Click on SUBMIT REQUEST to complete your event registration.
- Contact the Golf Shop to confirm receipt of your entry.
Cancellations made after matches have been posted, and no-shows, will be responsible for 100% of the Entry Fee.
NON-CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY
Non-championship play is not permitted on the course prior to any match. Non-championship play is permitted to begin off of Hole #1 approximately 30 minutes after the last match has begun. Please contact the Golf Shop for non-championship starting times.
