Mayacama Golf Club cordially invites you to participate in the 2nd annual Parent-Child Golf Championship. The spirit of the Parent-Child Championship is to bring family members together by providing a fun golf experience that will be memorable for all participants and to introduce new and young golfers to competitive golf. Teams shall consist of any parent child combination such as Father-Son or Daughter, Mother-Daughter or Son, Grandparent-Grandchild. There will be two Championship Divisions, 18 Hole and 9 Hole.
18-HOLE DIVISION FORMAT
Chapman Stroke Play. In Chapman Stroke Play, two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each playing their partners ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.
9-HOLE DIVISION FORMAT
Modified Alternate Shot. Each person will tee off and the best drive is selected. After the partners have selected the drive with which they wish to score, they shall play the ball alternately to complete the hole.
18-HOLE DIVISION HANDICAP INFORMATION
The Championship Committee will be using your current USGA Handicap Index as of July 1, 2014. Maximum Course Handicap Allowance is 24 strokes for men and 36 strokes for women. In Chapman Stroke Play, the partner with the lower Course Handicap is allowed 60% of his/her Course Handicap. The partner with the higher Course Handicap is allowed 40% of his/her Course Handicap. Add the percentages together before rounding, and then round off the total with .5 or more rounded upward. This will determine the “Team Handicap”.
9-HOLE DIVISION HANDICAP INFORMATION
With the likelihood of new players competing for the first time and without established handicaps, the Professional Staff will use various methods to equitably establish handicaps. This will enable teams to compete on a level playing field with the main emphasis on having a fun day!
PAIRINGS
Information regarding pairings will be posted in the Golf Shop 48 hours prior to the event. It is the player’s responsibility to contact the Golf Shop for this information.
TEES
Women shall play from the Forward Tee Markers. Men shall play from the Middle Tee Markers. Special Forward Tees will be used for participants where the Committee deems appropriate.
STARTING TIMES
Play for the 18 Hole Division will begin at 10:00 am on Sunday, July 6th in a Shotgun Start. Play for the 9 Hole Division will begin at 12:00 pm. The competitors shall start at the time laid down by the Committee. The competitors shall remain throughout the round in the group arranged by the Committee.
